I learned from my parents, a recruiter and an astrologist, a lot about reading people. I also come from a family of entrepreneurs, so it was almost a default for me to become an entrepreneur myself. I had a successful startup while I was in high school and a less successful one while I was in a graduate program at Cambridge.

Massimo Prelz Oltramonti is the non-executive Chairman of the Company.
Prior to joining TechWald Team at the inception, Massimo Prelz Oltramonti has had a long career in Venture Capital with Olivetti and Alta Berkeley Associates and Private Equity with Advent International and then Spectrum Equity in Ivrea (italy), New York, London and Paris. Massimo Prelz Oltramonti has more than 40 years’ experience in the private investment space.

Luca joined TechWald in 2018 since inception of the investment operations, thus contributed to depicting the corporate strategy and building the entire portfolio owned and managed by TechWald Group through the years.

Prior to joining TechWald, from 2009, Luca served as Principal for the life sciences practice of Venture Capital funds managed by Intesa Sanpaolo Group, completing investments in Europe, USA and Israel with an industrial focus on Cardiovascular and Neurovascular therapeutic devices.

Earlier on Luca has been scientist at ETH-Zurich and EMPA laboratories and R&D engineer at Alfa Romeo focusing on modelling of mechanical systems and mechanical integrity of engineering systems, having been author of several journal paper publications and industrial collaborations.

Luca earned a MSc in mechanical engineering from Polytechnic Milan (Italy) on 2004, a PhD in mechanics from ETH-Zurich (Switzerland) on 2008 and an MBA from SDA Bocconi Milan (Italy) in 2009.

Lior leads TechWald’s presence in Israel as an active executive, shaping strategy and driving execution across portfolio companies. He leverages his extensive network within the Israeli MedTech ecosystem-including the investor community, KOLs and industry stakeholders—to identify opportunities, build strategic partnerships, and accelerate growth.

Prior to joining the TechWald team in 2023, Lior cultivated a 20-year track record of success in global MedTech, distinguished by strong commercial acumen and international leadership. While residing for over nine years across Europe and Asia, Lior held senior international leadership roles, including serving as CEO of AposTherapy in the UK and Singapore, where he secured landmark NHS contracts and introduced innovative ‘Risk and Gain’ models with payers and providers. Earlier at J&J MedTech, he led high-performing commercial teams and strategic initiatives across multiple medical fields, consistently delivering double-digit growth and strong, sustained revenues over eight consecutive years.

He also served as a senior consultant to digital health startups, shaping strategy and accelerating market entry. A proven dealmaker and team builder, Lior delivers bold, transformational outcomes in complex, high-stakes environments.

Lior holds an International Executive MBA from the Kellogg School of Management (Northwestern Chicago University & Tel Aviv University), an LL.B in Law with Israeli Bar certification, and a B.A. in Business Management with a major in Finance, graduating cum laude from Reichman University.

Matteo is an Investment Manager at TechWald, bringing over 20 years of experience in the MedTech industry. Prior to joining TechWald, Matteo held roles in medical device commercialization and strategic growth, following his background as a biomedical engineer and Executive MBA graduate from SDA Bocconi School of Management.

Maryam is an Investment Analyst at TechWald Next. She joined the team in 2023 and focuses on opportunities in the MedTech sector, with particular attention to cardiology, metabolic health, neurovascular, and surgical navigation technologies. Prior to joining TechWald, Maryam worked with Edwards Lifesciences as a healthcare analyst. She holds a master’s degree in biomedical engineering from Politecnico di Milano (2022), where she specialized in cell & tissue and computational modeling, with a research focus on machine learning usage in healthcare. She brings experience in due diligence, competitive landscape analysis, and early-stage startup evaluation, combining scientific expertise with business insight, built on a technical foundation in computational modeling, biomechanical analysis, and applied motion research.

Christian Spaulding, MD, PhD is an interventional cardiologist, Professor of Cardiology at the Paris Cité University and chief of the integrated catheterization laboratory of the European Hospital Georges Pompidou in Paris, France. Christian earned his MD and cardiology certification from the Paris Cité University in Paris France and trained in interventional cardiology at the Heart Institute, Montreal, Canada and the Clinique Pasteur, in Toulouse, France. He is the author of more than 300 peer-reviewed manuscripts, including 3 in the New England Journal of Medicine as first author. His research topics are cardiac arrest, radial approach and techniques in interventional cardiology including drug eluting stents and balloons.

Shlomo Shpun is TechWald Scientific consultant. Prior to joining TechWald Team in 2020, Shlomo worked at Abbott EP in Minneapolis, MN, where he focused on Medical Affairs. Shlomo has more than 30 years’ experience in MedTech space. Working for JNJ, Abbott and several Cardiology startups. Shlomo holds a BA and MA degrees in Biology from the Technion – Israeli Institute of Technology as well as a D.Sc. (Ph.D.) in Animal Physiology from the same Institute.

Alessandra serves as Venture Partner at Techwald, bringing over 30 years of investment experience. She spent 25+ years in Private Equity as Operating Partner, leading over 15 management buyouts across different industries, mainly in Europe, with aggregated investment value of $600M+ and top-tier returns. More recently she’s been active as Venture Partner in the MedTech and Biotech space, providing strategic guidance to teams and early stage companies. Alessandra holds a MSc in Economics at Bocconi University.

With over five years of experience as an Office Assistant, Paola joined TechWald in 2024, bringing with her a strong foundation in organization, efficiency, and administrative support.

Before joining TechWald, she spent six years at a leading international recruitment and HR consulting firm, where she refined her skills in office coordination and operational management.
